ParaQuad Tasmania’s excited to offer a new program based around wheelchair safety. If you use a manual or electric wheelchair or other mobility device, come along and learn some tips and tricks to keep you safe.
The new program, ‘Wheelie Safe’ is designed to offer practical information and activities for wheelchair and mobility device users.
The first of these FREE sessions was held on Saturday 20 November in southern Tasmania, and was such an interesting and informative event. A representative of Community Policing Services (Tasmania Police) provided information about road safety in shared spaces, speed limits, access and parking. A Physiotherapist from St Giles talked to the group about pressure mapping, skin health and the importance of good posture. The risk factors, prevention and management of pressure points was also discussed. Yet another speaker, a wheelchair user, focused on living with disability.
We had some fantastic discussions and are looking forward to bringing the Wheelie Safe program to more Tasmanians.
The next session, due to be held in Launceston on Saturday 26 February, will be rescheduled because of COVID. Details of this and further sessions will be shared soon.
