Friday 3 December marks International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD). It’s a United Nations observed day aimed at increasing public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.
ParaQuad Tasmania is excited to be involved by showcasing sporting ability.
On Friday we’re holding a Come and Play sports event, open to people with physical disability, in southern Tasmania. Participants can try Wheelchair Basketball, Pickleball, Para Badminton and more. It’s on at The Moonah Sports Centre, in Gormanston Road from 12 noon to 2pm. Please register by emailing pdst@paraquadtas.org.au
And we’re supporting a Wheelchair Aussie rules event that promises to be a fantastic showcase of the sport, on Sunday 5 December, in Launceston.
AFL Tasmania is hosting the day, which see an inclusion game, an exhibition game and a North vs South match – all at Prospect High School. Spectators are welcome!
There are many other events around Tasmania to recognise and celebrate IDPwD. Head to this website to find out more and how you can get involved in this important day.
