Maybe you provided feedback around the Federal Government’s new Disability Employment Support Model?

A report has just been released summarising public consultation on ‘how a new model can best help people with disability prepare for work, find and keep a job and progress their careers’. (The current Disability Employment Services (DES) program concludes on 30 June 2023, and will be replaced by the New Disability Employment Support Model.)

The feedback came from 152 submissions, 40% from individuals and 60% from organisations.

Some of the common themes raised during public consultation were:

-reducing barriers to employment services

-greater flexibility in program and service delivery

-streamlining program adminstration

-more ongoing support for people with a disability and employers after people are placed in a job

The report explains that the public consultation is ‘just one step in the ongoing process to design the new model.’
